We had a trip to Bath and Stonehenge which for me was rather last minute. I had arrived at Justin and Weijia's place at 9pm to meet up with the Americans and Brazilians for drinks. At 9pm, they asked if i wanted to go with them to Bath and Stonehenge the next day. The problem was that i had an assignment due by 5pm the next day and i had not done it. But i said yes, paid GBP45 online and went ahead with it. I left for home at about 1030pm and reached back at 11pm. And i had to stay up till about 1am to finish my assignment which i think was a decent effort but in any case is not counted anyway.
So we had a great trip and although we spent about 5hrs in the bus in total, it was still fun! Pictures follow. All shots with Canon 40D (dang, the 50D just came out!), 10-22mm and tamron 17-50mm. Pictures with deep blue skies are with a polariser.
#1 - this was at our rest stop on our way to Bath. i thought this hill looked rather cute
#2 - At Bath. this is the Royal Courts
#3 - and again
#4 - Bath Abbey
#5 - very good violinist. and that contraption at his feet actually plays guitar chords. he just has to step on a combination of pedals to generate the chord he wants. zoom in to see what is written on the white board
#6 - this is the museum where they preserve one of the baths
#7 - from another view
#8 - a wooden model of what the whole bath looks like
#9 - a coin pool wherein people throw coins...maybe for luck...but in actuality, for donations to the place
#10 - view from the bottom
#11 - this shop permanently sells Christmas stuff throughout the year
#12 - err shadow play
#13 - my three travelling companions
#14 - the park
#15 - whilst we were here, a lady came up to us and asked in chinese "ni men xu yao bang mang ma?" because we were looking at a map. It turned out that she was doing street evangelism. She probably thought we were Chinese nationals and gave us Christian tracts in chinese to read
#16 - This is the most famous house in Bath - that of Sally Lunn. It also sells Sally Lunn's Buns which go for GBP1.48 per bun. it is a huge bun and its really famous. But it also tastes really bad. My 50cent donut at my neighbourhood shop tastes better. Apparently the bun was also served on the Titanic. According to weijia: "maybe that's why the titanic sank."
#17 - outside the store
#18 - that's the bun!
#19 - i think my specs make me look young
#20 - we get a souvenir box
#21 - How to get more air when sleeping
#22 - How not to roll off the seat when sleeping on a bus
#23 - Finally, Stonehenge
#24 - errr
#25 - all of us
#26 - the perfect shot to promote exchange to the current year 2s
#27 - why do we keep doing this?
#28 - and next, a few shots of stonehenge from different angles
#29
#30
#31
#32
#33 - my favourite shot of all
